About Wood Cop
Wood Cop is an independent buying-guide site about circular saws, track saws and the guides that keep a cut straight.
We write for homeowners, weekend builders and retirees with a garage or a workbench. Our goal is plain: help you pick a saw that fits your projects, your hands and the batteries you may already own.
What we cover
Our guides cover battery and plug-in circular saws, worm drive and rear handle saws, compact saws and plunge track saws. We sort them by blade size, cut depth, power source and the work they suit, from deck boards to full sheets of plywood.
We also cover guide rails and clamp edges. And we answer the questions most first-time buyers ask, like what size saw to buy and how deep it cuts.
How we work
We read the specs, the manuals and each maker's own information for every saw and guide we cover. We also look at what owners often report after months of use.
Then we turn it into plain guides, side-by-side comparisons and clear picks. Our How we research page explains the steps.
What we are not
We don't make or sell saws or guides, and no brand pays us to rank its products. Wood Cop isn't affiliated with DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Skil, Kreg or any other maker.
We don't claim to have run every saw we cover. When we pick something, we say why, based on its specs, its features and owner feedback.
A circular saw is a cutting tool with a spinning blade. Our guides help you compare saws, but the maker's manual is always the word on setup, guards and safe use.
How the site is paid for
Some links here go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
That never decides which saws we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
